2025 RHODE ISLAND PEPSI USBC YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

RULES AND FORMAT

  1. The Pepsi USBC Youth Championships is certified by the United States Bowling Congress (#04807) and governed by USBC rules and is open to all qualifying sanctioned USBC Youth members.
  • Advancement ratio from league level to state is 1 for every 1 entries per division, or minor fraction thereof, including last place ties.  In all cases at least one person per division, shall advance.  The advancement ratio shall be applied uniformly to all eligible divisions. The Base number for each Division is the number of individuals that were present at least one week to participate.
  • Advancers out of the league level must remain in the division they qualified in during all subsequent levels. If a bowler advances out of league level in more than one state/zone, the bowler must declare one state/zone to continue competing in before the next competition level. Participation in any level of competition past the league level in more then one state/zone will result in automatic disqualification. Bowlers must declare at the time of their first qualifying window within EACH league if they choose to “opt up” to a higher age division. All bowlers that choose to “opt up” MUST COMPLETE an “OPT UP” form prior to competition.
  • Pepsi will now use a challenge pattern for all qualifying squads which will be determined by the tournament director. 
  • State competition will take place Cranston Bowl  – 1450 Elmwood Ave  –  Cranston, RI  401-467-8850. Championship competition for U8, U10,U12, U15 & U18  Divisions Boys and Girls will be on March 9, 2025 at 10:00 am
  • Entry closing date is March 01, 2025Names, addresses, telephone numbers, date of birth, social security number for all qualifiers along with the state tournament entry fee must be submitted to the tournament director listed below by the closing date.
  • Divisions are based on participant’s date of birth. Athletes must choose the division in which they will compete. Competition shall be conducted in the following divisions. ALL DIVISIONS ARE SCRATCH

       Boys Division U8, U10, U12, U15, U18.

       Girls Division U8, U10, U12, U15, U18.


RULES AND FORMAT

U8 Boys Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/2016 or later  U8 Girls

U10 Boys Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/2014 thru 7/31/16  U10 Girls

U12 Boys Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/2012 thru 7/31/14  U12 Girls

U15 Boys Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/2009 thru 7/31/12  U15 Girls

U18 Boys Bowlers whose birthdate is 8/1/2006 thru 7/31/09  U18 Girls

  • Divisions U8, U10 and will bowl three games. Total pinfall will determine the winner in each division.

Divisions U12, U15 and U18 will bowl three games, then the top 25% in each division will bowl another three games. Total pinfall for all six games will determine winners in each division. (3+3=6)

Award and scholarship fees will be returned 100% to the bowlers. Funds are kept by S.M.A.R.T.  (Account# 8544) and may be accessible by contacting the SMART.at 1-800-514-2695 Ext 8292

  1. All bowlers must wear suitable attire. No hats/caps allowed. There will be NO smoking allowed for parents, guests or athletes on the concourse or in the settee area. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas.
  2. No substitutes will be permitted once athletes have started tournament play. However, replacements may be used for bowlers not present 15 minutes prior to the start of bowling as stated in rule 3
  3. Competitors shall be allowed 10 minutes of practice on each of their starting lanes, for the qualifying, and final rounds.
  4. A bowler arriving late shall begin play and the score shall count beginning with the frame then being bowled.  Frames missed shall be credited with a zero. Frames will not be made-up.  A bowler not present when it is his/her turn shall be credited with a zero for that frame.
  5. Only bowlers and tournament officials shall be permitted in the settee area.

RULES AND FORMAT

  1. In the event that a qualifier needs to be replaced and there is a tie to determine who will advance to the Junior Gold Championships, the high game from the qualifying scores will determine who will advance. If the high score for each is the same, next subsequent high score will be used until the tie is broken.
  2. Claims for errors in scoring or general playing rules must be made to the tournament director no later than the start of the next block or 30 minutes after the completion of the competition.  The tournament director shall decide upon questionable errors.  All other protests must be confirmed in writing to the tournament director within 72 hours.  Each protest under this rule must be specific in itself.
  3. Symbolic awards will be given as follows: 1 in 6 in each division will receive recognition

  1. The First-place winners of the U12, U15, and U18 Divisions both Boys and Girls will advance to the 2025 Junior Gold Championships on July 2025 . They must be USBC Junior Gold Members to advance to the Junior Gold Championships. Bowlers without a current Junior Gold Membership must purchase a Junior Gold Membership prior to July 1, 2025. USBC will waive the $200 (U18), $150 (U15) & $100 (U12) entry fee for these athletes. These athletes will compete for additional scholarships available to all athletes at the championships, as well as other prizes and awards. All U.S. citizens are vying for a spot on the USBC Junior Team USA 2025 to represent the United States in national and international competition. If the U12, U15 and U18 Division Champion is unwilling or unable to become a Junior Gold member they will not advance to the Junior Gold Championships. However, the athlete will still retain the State Scholarship, but the berth to the Junior Gold Championships will be awarded to the next eligible athlete. Proceeds from fund raisers and raffles marked for Junior Gold winners conducted during the year will distributed evenly to the 6 athletes going to the Championships to help defray their expenses.   • Because we award to the athletes that advance to the Junior Gold Bowling Championships a stipend to help with travel costs, if said athlete has earned a Junior Gold spot through another qualifying event throughout the current bowling season the athlete will keep their first spot earned. Said athlete will still receive stipend and/or scholarship earned in the Rhode Island Pepsi USBC Youth Championship Tournament.
  • Eligible Advancers must agree to bowl in the Junior Gold Championships or, failing to do so, you agree to waive all rights. Replacements will be selected based on order of finish in their division at the state level.  Replacements will incur all costs of changing the airline ticket, if applicable. If the eligible advancer decides not to attend the Junior Gold Championships, and does not give at least a 2 week notice, the state scholarship won may be withdrawn. The state tournament committee will make this decision.
  • The Rhode Island Pepsi USBC Youth Championship Tournament Committee shall determine all matters not covered by these rules and regulations and The National Pepsi USBC Youth Championship Tournament Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any participant.
